The torrent of Arbonne drains a watershed with an area of 15 sq. km north of Bourg St Maurice. The basin is composed mainly of limestone, shale and gypsum. The latter rock soluble in water, is particularly present in the throats of Nant Blanc.
This torrent has formed a cone dunging very large (144 ha) and changed the profile along the Isère. It is capable of forming very muddy debris flows characteristics.
